Surfing Dogs At The 7th Annual Dog Surfing Competition in San Diego

World Record 17 Dogs on one surf board

Dog lovers and dogs of all shapes and sizes competed in the 7th Annual Loews Coronado Bay Resort Surf Dog Competition in San Diego, California on Saturday June 16th 2012. The competition draws more than 50 dogs from across the US. In addition to the surfing competition, three Guinness World Records were set: Most amount of dogs surfing on one board at one time (more than 10 dogs), Most amount of dogs surfing on one board at one time with a human (Scott Chandler) and Most amount of dogs surfing on one board at one time with two humans (Scott and Tyler Chandler). The event is a fundraiser for animal welfare organization, ASPCA.

Australian Kelpie Abbie Girl took first place in the small dogs heat, with Torri, a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever taking second and Kona, a GSD-mix coming third.

The second heat (big dogs) saw Ricochet, a Golden Retriever and ASPCA Dog of the Year take the top spot and the victors in the tandem third heat were Zoey, a Jack Russell Terrier and owners Scott and Tyler Chandler.
