Dog Breeds

Golden Retriever 101

Written by Alessia

The golden retriever is one of the most popular breeds of dog to own. They are adorable and so sweet, and I myself have a soft spot for them because I grew up with my grandfather’s golden retriever, Rusty. These are relatively quiet and very happy dogs who love water and to retrieve things. They are extremely obedient and easy to train – they are eager to learn and aim to please their humans, adults or children.

The golden retriever has a “soft mouth”, and a fun fact about them is that they can carry raw eggs in their mouth without rupturing the shell. Like labradors, goldens are prone to hip displaysia, which has to do with them being a large dog, so it is important to check in with your vet about their hips and to make sure that they are properly exercised. These are excited dogs with a zest for life, and the perfect addition to your family.
