Dog Breeds

Cocker Spaniel 101

Written by Alessia

The Cocker Spaniel is one of the sweetest and friendliest dog breeds out there – they will greet anyone and everyone, which makes them a horrible watch dog for your house and family. These dogs originated in Spain in the fourteenth century and were breeded to hunt birds, particularly woodcocks. They have round, dark eyes that are unfortunately prone to cataracts, and floppy ears that need to be trimmed down or shaved on the inside to prevent common ear infections. They will live 12-15 years with great pet parents who provide love and a stress-free environment with the opportunity for exercise. The Cocker Spaniel makes a great family dog who can be trained easily and will be friendly to everyone he meets.
