The second most glorious day of the year is fast approaching. No, not Christmas – your last day in work before you break up for Christmas!
Ah, that sweet day where (almost) nothing can phase you. When eating mince pies for breakfast, elevenses, lunch and your afternoon snack is not just accepted but applauded. When you wish a cheery ‘Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!’ to anyone and everyone you come in contact with. Even listening to Smooth Christmas on the office radio for the third week running can’t wipe that smile off your face!
However if – like me – you’re looking for something to get into (apart from a 4th glass of wine) while you enjoy this much deserved break then look no further. Below I have compiled a list of some of the best canine literature that was published this year. Hopefully you will find something to put your feet up with and relax this Christmas:
The Great Grisby: Two Thousand Years of Literary, Royal, Philosophical, and Artistic Dog Lovers and Their Exceptional Animals by Mikitta Brottman. This charming book sees Brottman explore the exceptional love and bond between humans and dogs. As the book goes on we are introduced to the love in Brottmans life – Grisby, her French Bulldog. As we travel through this charming and surprising book; we see her challenge the idea that anyone who has a deep connection to a dog must have something wrong with them. Available on Amazon for £13.05*
Dogs In Cars by Lara Jo Regan is a beautiful, funny and heartwarming journey through exactly that – dogs in cars. The author is a world renowned photographic artist and film maker whose work has been featured in leading magazines. Based on that you can imagine the beauty and artistry that has gone into this book. The pictures found within its pages are exceptionally timeless and you will find yourself coming back again and again to flip through the pages. Available on Amazon for £8.99*
The Mutts Diaries is something for kids and big kids alike! Set out in a comic books style and written by Patrick McDonnell, The Mutts Diaries follows Earl – a small mutt – and his friend Mooch the cat. Exploring this unlikely friendship and the cheeky antics that these two characters get up to is simply sweet reading! Available on Amazon for £6.35*
Kinski by Gabriel Hardman will appeal to anybody looking for something a little deeper to get into this Christmas. Set out as a crime thriller, Kinski sees a salesman embark on a mission to save a puppy from its neglectful owners. Of course, like most good books, nothing goes as you think and we follow the story through a crusade that sees the main character put everything on the line! Available on Amazon for £10.21*
