Beautiful portrait series shows ageing dogs

Written by Bronwyn Hall

A beautiful new series of portraits shows dogs as they age from shiny-eyed pups to greying seniors.

The portraits are part of a book entitled Dog Years: Faithful Friends Then & Now by photographer Amanda Jones. Amanda has worked with dogs for over 20 years and in this time has been able to meet a variety of different dogs and photograph them at different stages in their lives.

The introduction to her book reads: “A dog’s life is a span that marks so much in our lives. We get them as puppies and they are cute and goofy…Then we teach them and they learn to behave better (sometimes). The connection over time deepens, and as our dogs age, the tides shift and we tend to learn more from their teachings…Life really is better with a dog by your side.”

The stunning black and white shots cannot help by tug on your heart strings as you witness how the dogs have changed and grown throughout the years.
