Berkeley Waterproof Orthopaedic Dog Beds

These Waterproof Orthopaedic Dog Beds by Berkeley are a massive 15 cm (6″) thick rectangular mattress with a central layer of pocket springs sandwiched between 4 layers of rebound felt. This core is then wrapped in lambswool and compressed and buttoned inside a tough zipped natural cotton drill inner bag. The felt is made from a mix of recycled cotton and wool with a small percentage of polyester to give added ‘bounce’.

Pocket spring mattresses are the preferred choice for most human orthopaedic beds. They contain many individual springs, housed in fabric pockets, all working independently of each other. This means that support is offered from the edge to the very centre of the mattress. The coil pocket springs in Berkeley waterproof orthopaedic dog beds allow your dog to either ‘nest’ or stretch-out with ease and help to provide an ideal balance of joint support, even weight distribution, insulation and cushioning.

Berkeley's outer cover that is supplied as standard is a durable 100% waterproof PVC-backed polyester pillow case-design that is sealed with heavy duty ‘Velcro’. This can easily be removed for machine washing or it can be left in place and simply wiped or hosed down. Available in Navy, Burgundy, Brown or Green.

You also have the choice of an optional fabric overcover in chenille, velvet or polar fleece that can be used to provide a warmer, softer feel. They simply slip on over the top of the existing waterproof cover. This way, your dog's new mattress has the ideal dual combination of covers - soft, breathable and warm with an inner waterproof protective cover.

All covers are a fully fitted pillow case design with heavy duty Velcro closures.

Tartan Chenille has a soft yet heavyweight construction. It looks and feels like wool but has all the advantages of polyester – machine washable and hard wearing.

Upholstery Grade Velvet is extraordinarily soft with a subtle two-tone pin stripe effect and medium crush. Machine washable and extremely hard wearing.

Anti-Pill Polar Fleece has a soft, warm yet tough finish. Excellent insulating, moisture buffering and wicking properties. Machine washable and quick drying.
